ROH: The Pointe Shoe Upcycling Project

Because of continuous wear and tear during performances and rehearsals, pointe shoes have a very limited life span. In fact, The Royal Ballet dances through over 6,000 pairs of pointe shoes each Season. Rather than throw these shoes away, our creative community of artists and craftspeople have worked with some of the UK’s top designers to create the Pointe Shoe Upcycling Project to raise money for our Recovery Campaign.

Designers ROKSANDA, ERDEM, Simone Rocha, Rejina Pyo, Halpern, and Liberty used pointe shoes supplied by The Royal Ballet to create bespoke limited-edition pieces of art and you can win one of these shoes by entering the Royal Opera House Recovery Campaign Draw today. And, if you happen to be in London before 15 August, you can view these shoes as they are on display in Covent Garden next to the ROH Piazza entrance.

Win a designer pointe shoe

Enter the Royal Opera House Recovery Campaign Draw for your chance to own a piece of ROH history by winning one of six custom designer pointe shoes. All proceeds from this draw will support the Royal Opera House Recovery Campaign. Tickets to enter are just £5 each and the competition is open until 31 August at 11:59pm.

    Grand prize (x1):

The Royal Opera House Recovery Campaign

Since having to close in March 2020, we have lost £3 in every £5 of our income. Internal cost savings, a Government loan, and your support so far of the Recovery Campaign have helped to sustain us through 2020 and into 2021. We are so pleased to have our artists back on our stages and to be able to welcome you through our doors, albeit still at a reduced capacity. However, the financial impact of the past year will continue to have an effect on what we’re able to share with you for some time to come. Because of this we are continuing to do all we can to aid our full recovery through the Royal Opera House Recovery Campaign.

Thank you for entering the Royal Opera House Recovery Draw and for supporting the future of ballet and opera.
